Natural Parks in Costa del Sol

More than 60% of Andalusia is protected reserve with a number of Natural Parks.
The province of Cadiz has more than twenty Natural Parks, like Sierra de la Grazalema (Biosphere Reserve), Los Alcornoques (Europe's largest cork oak forest), Doñana, the Strait of Gibraltar, the Barbate forest, the Bay of Cadiz.

The natural parks of Grazalema and the Sierra de las Nieves, both Biosphere Reserves, lend themselves to peaceful walks on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, or fishing, kayaking, climbing, immersed in the pristine nature rich in a varied fauna.
The area of the Strait serves as a port of call for all the birds that migrate to Africa, a privileged observatory for observing cetaceans.

The Natural Parks in Andalusia offer a very wide variety of landscapes and an extraordinary ecological wealth.
The whole province allows you to carry out many types of extreme activities and sports within the Natural Parks: in the hinterland you can devote yourself to hiking on the Grazalema Sierra, climbing, horse riding trails; on the coast surfing, kite surfing, diving and other water activities are practiced; horse rides through kilometers of beaches are also very famous.

The Natural Parks in the province of Granada offer a type of mountainous landscape, in fact the Sierra Nevada, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1986, Natural Park in 1989 and National Park in 1999, is the habitat of 60 exclusive plant species such as the "Star of the snows ?and kingdom of the wild goat, ibex of Andalusia.
It is a demanding mountain range that allows you to do many sports activities: in summer you can go trekking, mountain biking, horseback riding, canyoning on the Rio Verde; in winter, on the other hand, you can practice cross-country and downhill skiing, walk on snowshoes or ride a sled pulled by dogs.

In the wonderful valleys of the Alpujarra there are characteristic white villages overlooking sheer precipices. This area is located on the southern slope of the Sierra Nevada and is characterized by arid rock slopes. Crossing the valleys you can visit villages built in Berber style, terraced slopes.
There are four other natural parks in the province: Sierra de Castril, Sierra de Baza, Sierra de Huetor, Sierras de Tejeda y Almijara. Here we find the localities of La Sagra, Infiernos de Loja, Cárcavas de Marchal of extraordinary beauty. If you love active tourism, there is an embarrassment of choice: excursions, fishing, horse riding, caving, climbing, canyoning, mountain biking.

The Natural Parks of Malaga are: the Natural Park "Desfiladero de los Gaitanes" is a path that winds through vertical walls through a gorge about 100 m deep; path a little challenging but certainly very exciting. You visit through the paths.
The Torcal Natural Park is located near the village of Antequera. Visiting it you are projected into a dreamlike landscape created by rock formations of limestone shaped by the wind, very suggestive. In the area there is also Lobo Park where captive wolves can be observed.

The Cuevas de Nerja, declared Natural Monument, are very extensive caves in the Nerja area, very interesting for natural formations (the highest column in the world) and for relevant archaeologists findings.
Near the seaside resort of Nerja are the splendid cliffs of the Alcantilados de Maro Cerro.

Near Antequera is the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra Natural Reserve immersed in an undulating landscape populated by olive trees and cereal crops. Here you can admire many migratory birds such as flamingos (March-July), storks and many other water birds, walking in nature.
